New York. May, 2011. The Gabarron Foundation in New York is pleased to present “From Earth to Cosmos”, a solo painting exhibition by Panamanian artist Olga Sinclair. The exhibition has been curated by Carmen Alemán and organized in collaboration with the art foundation Fundahrte, with the support of Grupo Arranz Acinas, http://www.arranzacinas.es/, based in Burgos, Spain. The opening reception will be held on Thursday May 26th, from 6 to 8pm. This exhibition is a selection of Olga Sinclair’s most significant works from 2009-2011. Ms. Sinclair’s series of mixed media paintings were developed as the artist’s visual autobiography, realized through abstraction, celebrating her identity as a woman at every stage and state of her life.

Olga Sinclair describes her “Cosmos” of work as “a world of color, joy and hope”. This exhibition is the culmination of a three year evolution that began in 2009 and is now presented as a complete group for the first time. “From Earth to Cosmos” is a testament to the artist’s process of self-description through inner-reflection, presented brilliantly on canvas. Ms. Sinclair developed as an artist under the tutelage of her father, renowned artist Alfredo Sinclair. Additionally, she studied Fine Arts in London and Madrid and printmaking at the Universidad Santa Maria la Antigua, Panama City, where she earned her degree. Ms. Sinclair has exhibited extensively in solo and group exhibitions with prominent cultural institutions, from Panama to Southeast Asia, Europe, the United States and Latin America. Her work is held in permanent collections internationally and she has been commissioned by public and private institutions to create works in stained glass and mural painting. In addition to her artistic career, Ms. Sinclair avidly supports social interests through the Foundation Olga Sinclair, which she chairs; its vision is to help develop full human beings through contact with the arts.

Carmen Alemán is a leading curator and critic of Panamanian Art, which she promotes through exhibition in Panama and abroad. Among her accomplishments, she is the Director and founder of Galería Arte Consult in Panama City, which represents Ms. Sinclair, and the cultural foundation Fundahrte. Additionally, she has published several texts on Panamanian art and artists, including Alfredo Sinclair, and she coordinated the involvement of Panamanian artists in the Visual Art Biennials of the Istmo Centroamericano.

The Gabarron Foundation-Carriage House Center for the Arts is a non-profit institution and an exclusive international center specialized in art exhibitions and other cultural activities. From 2002, we have achieved to be an excellent platform in the United States to spread the Spanish culture, above all contemporary art. At the same time our organization has promoted the exchange and understanding between Spanish and American cultures, providing a space for interaction and enhanced appreciation of emerging and established cultural figures from both countries.
