The Jury of the FCGInternational Award for Restoration and Conservation, at a meeting inValladolid and composed of the following distinct personalities: Mr. Juan MªGarcía Otero, Mr. Ubaldo Sedano, Mr. Francisco Somoza, Mrs. Carmen Pérez deAndrés and Mr. Juan Mª Gastaca, under the presidency of Mr. Francisco Somoza,with Mrs. Carmen Pérez de Andrés acting as secretary, decided Unanimously toAward the FCG International Prize for Restoration and Conservation to: DANIELEROSSI (Painting Restore). The award is given first contribution to theconservation of Historical Heritage during his work which had been carried for23 years, during which time he contradicted to the restoring of several objectsof cultural interest. This experience has been backed by reports from theItalian Ministry of Cultural Objects and Activities.
Daniele Rossi
DANIELE ROSSI started his own professional activity in 1979 withthe CBC cooperative, made up of former professionals of the InstitutoCentrale del Restauro de Roma. In 1985 he received a diploma in restorationfrom the Centro delle Pietre Dure and from The Florence Restoration Laboratorywith speciality of Mural Painting. He has undertaken many jobs for thepublic administration and on a private level. Although his speciality ismural painting, he has also worked on other surfaces such as board, canvas andeven sculpture.
Between 1979 and1982 he started his work in the CMC cooperative undertaking works, amongothers, for the Poera del Duomo Museum, restoring works by SimoneMartín, in the Capitolini Museum of Rome, restoring paintings on canvas byPaolo Veronese and by Pietro Paolo Rubens, the National Gallery in Umbría, the MuseoComunale and the Museo de San Martino. It was in 1982 when hestarted to work with the Superintendence of Historical and Artistic Goods of,when he restored in the frescoes of the Assisi Basilica , the work of Giotto.
Along with thePietre Dure Centre and the Fortezza da Basso laboratory in Florence heundertook several interventions on works by Lorenzo di Bici, G. Vassari, LippoMemmi, mural paintings by Giotto, Domenico Ghirlandaio and works by Donatello.From 1986 own words he was self-employed restoring works in the PalcioComunale, the Cristo Giurde del Beato Angelico, in the S. GimignanoCivil Museum, the Palacio Vescovile, and for the Central RestorationInstitute. He also worked for the Uffizi Gallery, the Florence modern ArtGallery, the Chiriagana Foundation of Siena , the Siena Civil ArtGallery, Pitti Palace in Florence, the Siena national Art Gallery and severalchurches and Basilicas, such as San Gimignano, San Agostino or Radicondoli,among others.
In recent years hehas continued working for the superintendence of Historical and ArtisticObjects of Umbria , the Degli Argenti Museum, Siena State Archives and theUffizi Gallery where he has restored works by Francesco Prinmaticcio, FrancescoBassano and Tiziano Vecellio.
