Bio: Mauricio Alejo

Mauricio Alejo was born in Mexico City in 1969. He studied Communication Sciences at Universidad Intercontinental in Mexico and earned his Master of Art from New York University in 2002, as a Fulbright Grant recipient. In 2007, he was a resident artist at NUS Centre for the Arts in Singapore. He has received multiple awards and grants, including a National Grant for young artists from The Mexican National Fund for Culture and the Arts, and he was a New York Foundation for the Arts fellow in 2008. His work was exhibited in the “Project Room” at the ARCO Contemporary Art Fair, Madrid in 2007. His work has also been selected for photography biennials in Mexico and Puerto Rico and has been reviewed in important journals, such as Art Nexus Magazine and Art in America. He has exhibited in New York, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Chile, Spain, Italy, Hungary, Poland, Switzerland and Singapore. He currently lives and works in New York City.
