Project: Transeúntes Author: Nono García
Nono García’s project Transeúntes is a minimalist reference to our everyday, and simultaneously universal, world. Composed within small and medium sized paintings, he intends to establish a storyline between the work and the viewer through contemporary figurative painting by making de-contextualized solitary objects appear as the main subjects amongst dehumanized landscapes. The artist’s current work is the outcome of his immersion in the cultures that he represents; by concentrating on material objects, each becomes a focal point for different dimensions of reality that belong to the men and women in the gallery. His journeys and experiences are revived through these solitary, individual or partnered objects that generate multiple realities in the viewers’ subjective mental perspectives. As such, the artist’s intention is to suggest and provoke the viewers’ own associations with these objects.
Bio
The objects depicted in the exhibition appear to have been inspired by actual objects from a tavern yet, when exhibited in these paintings, they are also inhabited by subjective associations and realities.
Beginning his training at the School of Fine Arts and Crafts in Murcia, he completed his art studies with different artist workshops, including those with Pedro Cano in 2004, Antonio López García in 2005, Cristóbal Gabarrón in 2006 and the most recent with Pedro Cano in 2010. His work is part of numerous public and private collections, as well as a number of important cultural institutions. Currently, he is an artist grant recipient of the Fundación Casa Pintada in Mula.
