The Gabarron Foundation has established nine International Awards:
These awards are aimed at giving recognition to individuals, workgroups or institutions that have made internationally notable achievements in any of these nine categories.
Proposed candidates are required to have made an outstanding and exemplary contribution within their field.
The Gabarron International Visual Arts Award
This Award will be presented to the individual, workgroup or institution whose creative work in any of the following fields of artistic expression constitutes an exceptional and highly outstanding contribution to universal culture: Painting, Sculpture, Architecture, Photography, Video Art, Installations, Art Performances, High-Tech Art and other artistic manifestations.
The Gabarron International Performing Arts Award
This Award will be presented to the individual, workgroup or institution whose creative work in any of the following fields of scenic expression constitutes an exceptional and highly outstanding contribution to universal culture: Cinematography, Music, Dance, Theatre and other manifestations of scenic art.
The Gabarron International Science and Research Award
This prize will be awarded to the person, group or institution whose research work in any of the diverse fields of science, understood in its broadest sense, contributes to or makes a significant technological or scientific advancement, discovery, invention or improvement for humanity.
The Gabarron International Sports Award
This Award will be presented to the individual, workgroup or institution that has become distinguished in an exemplary fashion for their achievements and/or improvements in the field of Sports. Those whose activities and dedication have also contributed to the promotion and proliferation of sports in any of its disciplines will also be considered.
The Gabarron International Economics Award
This prize will be awarded to the person, team, entity or institution whose activities in the field of economics, business, research or research promotion has made a decisive contribution to improving the quality of life of a group of people, territory or society, and in whose specific work and projects outstanding social concern is an underlying objective.
The Gabarron International Literature Award
This Award will be presented to the individual, group or institution whose contribution greatly profits universal culture through the carrying out of creative literary work or linguistic research in any of the diverse fields of the literary arts.
The Gabarron International Thought and Humanities Award
This Award will be presented to the individual, group or institution whose intellectual work, creative endeavors or dedication to Humanity has made a significant, exemplary and outstanding contribution to enriching the perspectives of knowledge, supporting ideals of universal human rights and brotherhood between peoples, and fighting injustice and the varied forms of oppression against individuals and larger groups that limit freedom.
The Gabarron International Restoration and Conservation Award
This Award will be presented to the individual, group or institution whose professional work or research has contributed in a relevant way to the restoration, conservation, recovery, defense and/or protection of the historical and artistic heritage of Humanity.
The Gabarron International Lifetime Achievement Award
This Award will be presented to the individual, group or institution whose exemplary trajectory of achievements, both personal and professional, in the political, social, cultural and/or scientific fields, have benefited Humanity throughout a significant period of time.
Rules and Selection Guidelines for the Gabarron International Awards 2014
The academies, centers, foundations, cultural and research-based organizations, universities, other public and private institutions, and individuals invited by the Foundation may present formal proposals for candidates to the Gabarron International Awards according to the aforementioned requirements of each Award. Among their merits, they must have made an outstanding and exemplary contribution in their field, as well as a relevant international trajectory in each discipline.
Similarly, the members of each one of the Juries, prior to their establishment, may present proposals for candidates, as long as another two members of the Jury for that Award also give their support to the candidate proposed.
Proposals received from those who request the Award for themselves or for the organizations they represent will not be valid
Proposals for candidates must be presented through the following channels: by electronic mail to firstname.lastname@example.org, by registered mail, by courier service, or in the registry of the General Secretariat of the Foundation in USA:

All proposals for candidates must be formalized by filling in the Official Proposal Form established fort his purpose by the Foundation, or by sending a letter to the Foundation. Other documents, relevant data about merit sand complementary information on the candidate may be enclosed along with other support for the proposal.
The proposal deadline for candidates is December 22, 2014 at 8 PM, except for those proposals made by the members of the Juries.
Proposals that do not fulfill the requirements previously indicated will not be admitted. Requests for the withdrawal or return of proposals or accompanying documents sent to the Foundation will not be answered; nor will the Foundation consider entering into correspondence on any of these questions.
Nine different Juries will be established, one for each Award. The Jury of each of the awards will be set up with sufficient time to consider the proposals and will be made up with no less than three and no more than seven members including a Chairman and Secretary appointed by the Foundation. Among the functions of the Secretary is the moderation of disagreements with respect to the Rules and Selection Guidelines that may arise among members of the Jury. It is the responsibility of the President of the Jury to chair the discussion, deliberations and voting.
Each member of the Jury will have one vote, which must be given personally by that member. The Award will be given to the candidate who receives the overall majority of Jury votes (at least four of six). In the case of a tie the President´s vote will be a qualifying vote.
The International Gabarron Awards must be decided and the winners notified by February 27, 2015.
The Awards may not be of a posthumous nature, nor may they be given to the members of the Patronage of Foundation. Only one Award of each category may be given to an individual, workgroup or institution.
Each Award will be made up of an sculpture, original work of the artist Cristóbal Gabarrón, and a medal. The Award may not be shared.
In order to receive the sculpture and a medal, the winner must attend the Awards gala, unless unable to due to bad health or other reasons beyond his/her control.
Prizes will be awarded during a Ceremony to be celebrated in the city of New York, on November, 2015 with all winners present.
