Cristobal Gabarron (Mula, 1945. Murcia, Spain) is a renowned painter and sculptor with a long international trajectory distinguished by a deep humanist concept. His works are present in city squares, streets and promenades all over the world, contributing to spread a message of tolerance and coexistence, of harmony with nature and promoting the development of human values.
Born in a small town in Murcia, he spent part of his childhood and youth in Valladolid. France, Italy and the United States have also been stages of his training and growth as an artist.
Milestones in his career are his collaboration with the United Nations or the International Olympic Committee, from where new and interesting pieces emerge.
This year 2022, the creator wants to bring the Cristobal Gabarron Museum, a world reference center of his work, located in his native Mula, to the whole world. And this will be done through a new initiative called Pilgrim Museum, which takes its first step in the Sculpture Park Wesenberg in Germany, as a result of an agreement between the Gabarron Foundation, the Casa Pintada Foundation and the Peter Wilmot Thompson Foundation. With it, the artist also celebrates the thirtieth anniversary of the Cristobal Gabarron Foundation.
Sculpture Park Wesenberg dedicates this gallery of its art center and a significant part of its outdoor space, with the Gabarron Sculpture Trail Bei Wu, to the exhibition "Cristobal Gabarron, the magic circle", which hosts works belonging to three collections of the author that dialogue fluidly with each other. It is the Tao Sculpture Group, related to this oriental philosophy, composed of 12 sculptures made of polychrome steel; the one called Siega Verde, also of sculpture, in which 13 large pieces invite to a journey inspired by the archaeological site of the same name in Salamanca, which is a World Heritage Site, and the 11 paintings of Asymmetries.
In TAO, Gabarron links the diversity of civilizations and the necessary harmony with nature through his humanist vision. Once again, his message of tolerance and coexistence is present in his work.
Siega Verde is a series of fiberglass sculptures vividly polychrome, inspired by one of the most important Paleolithic archaeological sites in the world, allude to the origin and early artistic expressions and rituals of human beings, as well as their relationship with nature, night, day, sky, stars, trees, water ...
The 11 works of Asymmetries talk about time, the absence of the word, the 'Eloquence of silence', as some of his works are titled, but also appears the 'Painted Time', the 'Silent Time' and even the sea.
This new exhibition, which will be on view until December 2023, is part of the Bei Wu 2022 Art Festival, and is curated by Fré Ilgen, critic and artist.
