1st ANNUAL IVY LEAGUE CLUB OF SPAIN SYMPOSIUM (ICS)
SPANISH LEADERS IN USA

New York, March 31, 2014. The Ivy League Club of Spain and The Gabarron Foundation summon young Spaniards to the symposium “Spanish leaders in the United States” in the morning of Saturday April 5, 2014 to meet, discuss and connect with Spanish leading figures of fundamental reference in New York.
The symposium (in Spanish) will bring together in the Gabarron Foundation five Spanish personalities of the highest level. That will share their professional and academic careers in the United States with over 100 attendees. The list of personalities is composed by the Consul General of Spain in New York the Hon. Mr. Juan Ramón Martínez Salazar, the director of the National Center of Cardiovascular Research Ph.D. Valentín Fuster, President of the Chamber of Commerce of Spain in the United States, Mr. Carlos Pujol, Journalist, writer and director of Gomaespuma radio show, Mr. Guillermo Fesser, and the young entrepreneur Mr. Iñaki Berenguer, founder of Pixable application.
The Symposium will last till 3pm marking the kick-off of the ICS and thus foster the illusion of its members from carrying out their foundational work is to extend the range of academic possibilities of his Spanish compatriots. The Symposium responds to one of the fundamental objectives of the Ivy League Club of Spain (ICS), to help Spanish youth access academic institutes in the United States and create within them an academic, social, entrepreneurial, and professional network in the North America continent. The ICS, a non-profit organization, now has more than 120 members, it started in the fall of 2012 by a small group of Spanish students from the prestigious network of universities known as the Ivy League: Brown University, Columbia University, Cornell University, Dartmouth College, Harvard University, Princeton University, University of Pennsylvania, and Yale University.
The Gabarron Foundation located in the heart of Midtown (East Side) in the Big Apple (149 E 38th St.), was established in 2002 by the artist Cristóbal Gabarrón and the philanthropist New Yorker Theodore W. Kheel with the objective to promote the richness of Spanish and American culture and the legacy of their land and people.

Nueva York, 31 de marzo de 2014. El Ivy League Club of Spain y la Fundación Gabarrón convocan a los jóvenes españoles al simposio “Líderes Españoles en Estados Unidos” en la mañana del sábado 5 de abril de 2014 para conocer, debatir y conectar con destacadas figuras españolas de referencia fundamental en Nueva York.
El Simposio reunirá en la Fundación Gabarrón a cinco personalidades españolas del más alto nivel, que compartirán sus carreras académicas y profesionales en los Estados Unidos con los más de cien asistentes. El elenco de personalidades está compuesto por el Cónsul General de España en Nueva York el Excmo. Sr. D. Juan Ramón Martínez Salazar, el Director del Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Cardiovasculares Dr. D. Valentín Fuster, el Presidente de la Cámara de Comercio de España en EE.UU. Sr. D. Carlos Pujol, el periodista, escritor y director del programa de radio Gomaespuma Sr. D. Guillermo Fesser, y el joven emprendedor Sr. D. Iñaki Berenguer, fundador de la aplicación Pixable.
El Simposio, que durará hasta las 15 horas, marcará el pistoletazo de salida del ICS y pondrá de manifiesto la ilusión de sus miembros por seguir realizando su labor fundacional: ampliar el abanico de posibilidades académicas de sus compatriotas españoles.
El Simposio da respuesta a uno de los objetivos fundamentales del Ivy League Club of Spain (ICS), ayudar a jóvenes españoles a acceder a instituciones académicas en los Estados Unidos y crear entre ellos una red académica, social, emprendedora y profesional en el continente norteamericano. El ICS, organización sin ánimo de lucro, cuenta ya con más de 120 miembros, se ideó en el otoño de 2012 por un reducido grupo de estudiantes españoles de la prestigiosa red de universidades conocida como el Ivy League: Brown University, Columbia University, Cornell University, Dartmouth College, Harvard University, Princeton University, University of Pennsylvania, y Yale University.
La Fundación Gabarrón, ubicada en el corazón de Midtown (East Side) de la gran manzana (149 E 38th St.), fue establecida en 2002 por el destacado artista español Cristóbal Gabarrón y el filántropo neoyorquino Theodore W. Kheel con el objetivo de promover la riqueza cultural española y americana así como el legado de sus tierras y sus gentes.

Guillermo Fesser
Periodista de reconocido prestigio y fama. Es quizás más conocido por ser un miembro del dúo Gomaespuma, uno de los programas de humor con más historia en la radio española. Tiene una carrera exitosa en los campos del cine, la televisión y literatura. En la actualidad, vive en Rheinbeck, NY.
Iñaki Berenguer
Co-fundador y director ejecutivo de Pixable, empresa especializada en gestión de fotografías en redes sociales con sede en Nueva York. Pixable fue adquirida por Singapore Telecom por casi 27 millones de dólares el año pasado. Iñaki es doctor en ingeniería por la universidad de Cambridge y MBA de MIT, ha recibido numerosos reconocimientos académicos y profesionales, entre las que cabe destacar becas de La Caixa, el British Council, la fundación Rafael del Pino, o la beca Leonardo Da Vinci.
Carlos Pujol
Chairman de la Cámara de Comercio España/EEUU desde el año 2010. Profesional de reconocido prestigio en el sector del desarrollo de infraestructuras y desarrollo urbano. En la actualidad es el director ejecutivo de CemusaNY, Inc., empresa subsidiaria de FCC con sede en Nueva York desde la cual gestiona las operaciones de la empresa en las Américas.
Dr. Valentín Fuster
Cardiólogo de reconocidísimo prestigio internacional, es uno de los científicos españoles más importantes. Director del Mount Sinai Medical Center de Nueva York, del Zena and Michale Wiener Cardiovascular Insititute y del MarieHJosée and Henry R. Kravis Center for Cardiovascular Health. Es el director general del Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Cardiovasculares Carlos III (CNIC) de Madrid y el presidente de la Science for Health and Education Foundation. Resulta realmente imposible de glosar el número de reconocimientos, premios y honores que ostenta.
